Building on the success of the previous £2 national fare cap, bus passengers across England will benefit from a new £3 fare cap on single journeys from January 2025.

Under the new fare cap, most single bus journeys will cost no more than £3, regardless of the distance travelled. However, it's important to note that many bus fares will still be lower than this amount, ensuring that passengers can continue to enjoy affordable travel on many routes.

This £3 fare cap will be in place from January 2025, providing passengers with a further year of predictable and affordable bus travel while ensuring the financial sustainability of bus services.

The fare cap is part of a broader initiative to enhance public transport and encourage more people to use buses. Supported by significant government funding, this initiative is designed to boost bus services nationwide, making them a more viable and attractive option for commuters and travellers alike.

Don’t forget that in Oxfordshire you can also benefit from unlimited travel across multiple bus companies using the MyBus Oxfordshire tickets and joint parking and ticketing offers at Oxford’s park and rides.
