First published in October 2021, the Oxfordshire Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) sets out key long-term ambitions for improving our local bus network and how these will be achieved. Publication of an updated BSIP was a condition for release of the final instalment of the existing funding allocation for Oxfordshire for this year.
The key changes from the 2021 BSIP are:
- A new structure
- Updating the baseline (current bus offer) to 2023/24
- Setting out ambitions and proposals for 2025 to 2030
To inform the BSIP update, stakeholder engagement was conducted in March and April 2024. This included an online public survey which attracted 1149 responses, 78% of whom were regular bus users.
The key priority areas for improvement identified by passengers and stakeholders were:
1. Faster buses
2. More reliable buses
3. More buses (either improved frequency, additional destinations or increased operating times)
4. Better value fares
5. Better information before you travel
The updated BSIP was adopted by Oxfordshire County Council’s cabinet on 18 June 2024.
